The Materials Physics Graduate Program (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências - Física de Materiais - FIMAT) intends to consolidate the Sciences' training of Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering students with a differentiated methodology, presenting them the fundamental features of the Sciences of Materials, without disregarding the possibilities of a more specific solid training. The approach is based on the mandatory and fundamental Sciences of Materials' courses incorporated with elective courses which allows a concrete training of the student in Materials Physics or Physics of Condensed Matter, focusing their line of research. In addition to the execution of this method, the proposal aims to also encourage the formulation of scientific and innovative research works focusing on areas of knowledge frontier, as in nanostructured systems, metal alloys, hybrid organic-inorganic materials, ionic and molecular crystals, functional ceramic materials, and organic and inorganic semiconductor materials. The program comprises two lines of research: 1) Structured and Nanostructured Materials and Systems; and 2) Mathematical Simulation and Computational Modeling.
