Created in 2009, the Social Work course of the Federal University of Ouro Preto aims to train critical social workers that are committed to ethical, political, and professional projects, and also able to act on different issues in the society. The social worker must be aware of relevant problems in their professional practice, such as in defense of human rights, the expansion of democracy and citizenship, the position in defense of equality and social justice, and the elimination of all types of discrimination and prejudice.
It’s up to the professional to elaborate, execute, and evaluate social politics, for example plans, programs, projects, and services in Social Work. The main Graduates' Job Positionss are: social assistance, health, education, socio-juridical, welfare, non-governmental organizations (ONG’s), rights councils, companies, enterprising foundations, and consulting with social movements.
