Starting in 2007, UFOP’s Medical Program aims to train a primary care physician, committed to the Brazilian health reality. The curriculum intends to put the student in the universe of health practice in its several ramifications, with constant supervision of a professor.
The pedagogical project is based on the National Curricular Guidelines established by the Ministry of Education (Ministério da Educação - MEC) and on the professional background preconized by the Ministry of Health Pro Health. Therefore, the background integrated to public services seeks solutions to the precariousness of Brazilian population and capacitates in an effective manner the medical professional.
The medical professional graduated in UFOP may enter the labor market to work in the areas of family health and urgency medicine of low and average complexity, or pursue a specialized career, in areas such as medical clinics, pediatrics, surgery, urgency medicine, women health, children and teens health, adults and elder health, workers health, mental health, and collective health.
