Created in 2009, the Economic Sciences Program in UFOP emphasizes the character of economic sciences as a social and institutional construction. The economist constantly debates about issues of great relevance to society, such as economic growth, price stability, structural changes, and unemployment. Therefore, this undergraduate Program has contributed to make the institution a center forof debate for the socioeconomic issues relevant to the country and the most important contemporary concerns.
The Economics degree allows the professional to work in activities related to economic analysis, strategic planning and decision making, and management of public and private agencies. Moreover, the professional can work in the analysis of investment and projects, in the economic expertise, and in the field of research and teaching.
