As provided in the resolution CEPE/UFOP 7609/2018, the extension actions are:
Institutional actions: are those elaborated to attend external demands that come from UFOP that come from federal, state, or municipal institutions and organizations, or those elaborated to attend the interest demand of the Superior Administration.
Institutional Provision of Services: it refers to the study and problem solving of the professional and social media, with oriented participation from students; to the development of new pedagogic and research approaches; and to the transfer of knowledge and technology to society.
Event: action that implicates in the public presentation or exhibition of knowledge or cultural, artistic, scientific, and technological product that were developed, conserved or renown by the University which attends the directions presented in the CEPE resolution.
The extension events can be:
- Congress: a huge event of regional, national, or international scope, lasting from 3 to 7 days, which gathers participants of a wide scientific or professional community. It covers a conjunct of activities such as round tables, lectures, conferences, workshops, and mini courses, which can last eight hours.
- Seminar: scientific event smaller than a congress, both in terms of duration (from hours up until 1 or 2 days) and a number of participants, covering more specialized fields of knowledge. This classification includes meetings, symposia, journeys, colloquia, and forums
- Cycle of Debates: sequential meetings which seek the discussion of a specific theme may be characterized as cycles, circuits, and weeks or similar.
- Exposition: public exhibition, including fairs, saloons, shows, and releases.
- Show: public demonstration of scenic or musical events, including recitals, concerts, shows, theatre, movie and television exhibits, demonstration of public singing, dancing, and musical interpretation.
- Sports event: championship, tournament, Olympics, or sports presentation.
- Festival: series of artistic, cultural, or sports events, held concomitantly, usually with periodic editions.
- Others: punctual action of mobilizations which aims a defined objective.
Usual actions: those are submitted by UFOP’s proponents, may be framed as follows:
- Program: articulated conjunct of extension actions, integrating them to research and teaching. It has organic institutional character, it’s clear, has specific directions and a common goal being executed in the medium and long term. It usually attends the same community. The minimum period for the program implementation must be two years.
- Project: continuous and process action of educative, social, cultural, scientific, or technological character, with specific goal and determined period; may be isolated or linked to any program.
- Course: pedagogic action, of theoretical or practical character, on-campus or online, planned and organized systematically, with a determined period and minimum workload of eight hours and defined evaluation criteria. Actions like this with less than eight hours must be classified as events.
Every extension action requires the involvement of undergraduate students, besides teachers and administrative staff.
