The Applied Economics Graduate Program (Programa de Pós Graduação em Economia Aplicada - PPEA) aims to train qualified professionals, capable of performing activities related to economic issues and its applications, which assists in public and private decision making. The program also seeks to encourage the consolidation of research groups at UFOP, especially those that meet the socioeconomic, demographic, and cultural specificities of the Inconfidentes region, where UFOP campi are located.
PPEA students will receive solid training in Economic Theory and Quantitative Methods, furthermore, they will be able to deepen their knowledge in the areas of Economic Development and Evaluation of Public Policies. For this purpose, the Master's Degree curriculum in Applied Economics contains elective courses in the areas of interest, such as Tourism Economics, Mineral Resources Economics, Analysis of Mining Situation, Economy of Education, among others.
The program has established an academic collaboration with the Graduate Program in Economics of the Center for Regional and Development Planning of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Centro de Desenvolvimento e Planejamento Regional da Faculdade de Ciências Econômicas - CEDEPLAR / Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG), and counts with their professors’ expertise.
