The Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate Program (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Farmacêuticas – PPG CiPharma) began with the master's degree in September, 2005, examining the pharmaceutical area's multidisciplinary characteristic, which includes chemistry and biology, to attend humanity’s needs of drugs and medicines. In 2011, the doctorate degree was recommended by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES) and started in March, 2012. Its lines of research are: 1) Studies and Development of Medicines; 2) Chemistry and Pharmacology of Bioactive Compounds; and 3) Therapeutic Substances, Vaccines, and Diseases Diagnosis and Prognosis. The program has shown a fast growth of the scientific production's quality and it has been investing in the permanent faculty's experience through post-doctorate programs abroad, which could promote a higher interaction with foreigner researchers.
