The Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) expanded its network of international academic cooperation during the second semester of 2025. The initiative reinforces the University's commitment to internationalization and to increasing academic opportunities for students, administrative staff, and faculty members.
Throughout the semester, UFOP signed new cooperation agreements and renewed existing partnerships with higher education institutions from different countries. The agreements involve universities across Africa, Europe, and Latin America. The partner institutions include:
1. Higher Technical School of Health of Huambo, Angola;
2. Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, Germany;
3. TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany;
4. National University of San Martín, Argentina;
5. Universidad Finis Terrae, Chile;
6. Universidad Antonio Nariño, Colombia;
7. Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France;
8. University of Salerno, Italy;
9. Osun State University, Nigeria;
10. Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, Portugal.
Currently, UFOP has nearly 110 international agreements in force or undergoing renewal, contributing to the University's presence on the global stage. The International Relations Office (DRI) emphasizes that these agreements are the result of the collective efforts of students, administrative staff, and faculty members involved in building UFOP's international collaborations.
According to Anderson Gamarano, Director of the DRI, the signing of new agreements expands opportunities for academic cooperation across the entire UFOP community. He explains that “more agreements mean, for example, more destinations for students interested in participating in academic mobility programs.” He further notes that “likewise, the existence of a formal relationship between UFOP and a foreign institution is an advantage—or, in some cases, even a prerequisite—for faculty and staff to submit joint research projects and collaborative proposals.”
