This program was created in 1999, becoming the pioneer in the state of Minas Gerais. Industrial chemists work in quality control of raw materials, products in processing and final products for the chemical industry, and they also elaborate technical reports, providing collaborative feedback and advice. UFOP’s infrastructure has modern labs for both educational and/or research and extension. Such structure, allied to several scholarship programs offered by the institution, allows the student to train and learn through advanced resources. The possibility of participation in scientific initiation programs completes the educational experience.
The Industrial Chemist is qualified to act in several areas, such as production, previous and complementary treatments of products, research and development of operations and industrial processes, chemical, physico-chemical, chemical and biological, bromatological, toxicological and legal analysis; standardization and quality control, operation and maintenance of equipment and installations, execution of technical works, inspection, expertise, evaluation, arbitrariness and technical services, opinions, reports and statements elaboration, and the professional is also able to work as a teacher.
